Job summary

The Veterinary Emergency Group in Houston, TX is seeking an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician (Relief) to join our fast-paced front-line ER team. You’ll handle a wide range of cases, from triage to critical care, collaborating with doctors and staff to deliver gold-standard care for pets and their families.

This per diem role requires a CVT/RVT/LVT credential, an AVMA-accredited program, and 1+ year of emergency or specialty experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; AVMA-accredited program strongly preferred.
• Credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT) in the practice state is required; VTS in ECC/anesthesia/analgesia is a plus.
• 1+ year experience as a veterinary technician; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Basic computer skills and EMR software familiarity.
• Excellent communicator and able to remain calm under pressure; team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Provide triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing.
• Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support from triage to discharge.
• Assist with diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and placing tubes.
• Communicate effectively with team and help shape care plans.
