Job summary

Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC) in Yakima, WA, is seeking a Relief Dental Receptionist for the Children's Village site. You will be the first contact for patients, greeting, scheduling, and assisting with bilingual needs.

The role emphasizes accurate data handling, insurance verification, and customer service in a busy dental/clinic setting. A strong team environment and patient-centered care are central to the mission.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year's clinic/dental/optometry experience preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required at level 9 (ALTA).
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional interaction with patients, providers and staff.
• Proficiency with Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of medical/dental terminology and billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers the phone, transfers calls and takes messages.
• Greets patients and maintains patient/visitor log; provides translation as needed.
• Ensures complete patient data and charts; registers new patients.
• Schedules appointments and notifies providers of no-shows or cancellations.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and assists with questions.
• Handles patient questions via in-person, phone and portal systems.
• Performs routine billing and end-of-day reports; reconciles cash box.
• Manages referrals from inception to completion.
• Manages recall communications for routine care and appointments.
• Files clinic documents in patient records; coordinates with Health Information.
• Creates treatment plan estimates and collects upfront fees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
