Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a Relay Technician II to perform testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection and control systems. The role emphasizes safety, technical proficiency, and collaboration with Senior Technicians and Engineers to support project execution.

Responsibilities include relay testing, end-to-end system validation, and documentation of results. Applicants should have related degrees or certifications and be prepared for travel and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Willing to work overtime and travel.
• Experience installing, maintaining, testing, or repairing protective relays in transmission, generation, or distribution substations.
• Knowledge of relay test software.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform relay testing with Senior Technicians and Engineers.
• Execute element, logic, and basic functional testing of protective relays and control systems.
• Perform and evaluate in-service readings to verify system performance and identify abnormalities.
• Conduct end-to-end testing and validate protection system operation.
• Perform communication installations and testing including SCADA, GOOSE, Modbus, fiber optics, and related protocols.
• Develop testing and isolation plans to ensure safe execution of work.
• Create detailed reports, including test results and commissioning records.
• Communicate clearly with clients, engineers, and project stakeholders.
• Coordinate work activities with engineers and project teams to ensure alignment.
