Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a Relay Technician II to perform testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection and control systems. You will work with Senior Technicians and Engineers to develop expertise in relay protection schemes while supporting project execution through testing, troubleshooting, and reporting.

The role emphasizes safety, technical proficiency, and clear communication with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Pass a pre-employment drug screen due to safety sensitive position.
Criminal background check required.
Overtime and travel out of town may be required.
Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays in transmission, generation or distribution substations.
Knowledge of relay test software.

Responsibilities

Adhere to safety policies and participate in job briefings and hazard mitigation.
Apply Human Performance Error Reduction concepts in daily work practices.
Promote safe work behaviors and safety initiatives.
Perform relay testing with Senior Technicians and Engineers.
Execute element, logic, and basic functional testing of protective relays and control systems.
Read and interpret one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics and complex protection logic.
Develop testing and isolation plans for safe execution.
Create detailed reports and commissioning records.
