Job summary

Electric Power Systems in Overland, MO seeks a Relay Technician II to perform electrical testing, maintenance and troubleshooting of protective relays in power stations under minimal supervision. You will use relay test equipment to test various relays and contribute to safety standards.

The role requires hands-on experience with protective relays, installation, commissioning and testing, plus developing procedures for testing and maintenance. NETA II certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Criminal background check required.
• Willingness to travel out of town for periods.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays in transmission, generation or distribution substations.
• Capable of troubleshooting distribution and transmission control circuits.
• Knowledge of relay test software.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety culture and supervise other team members.
• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relaying.
• Develop standard commissioning, testing and maintenance procedures for protective relaying.
• Test substation control circuits on relay panels, transformers and breakers.
• Develop relay macros and testing routines with proper protection design.
• Perform end-to-end relay testing using relay test software.
• Examine relay settings and logic for correct system operation.
• Develop testing and isolation procedures for outages.
• Perform communications installations and testing (SCADA, GOOSE, Modbus, Fiber).
• Perform circuit analysis of protective relays and instrumentation.
