Job summary

Electric Power Systems is hiring a Relay Technician II to perform testing, commissioning, and preventive maintenance of protection and control systems. You will work with Senior Technicians and Engineers to ensure safe, accurate testing and reporting while developing expertise in relay protection schemes.

Qualifications

• Pre-employment drug screen required for safety sensitive position.
• Criminal background check required.
• Able to work overtime and travel out of town.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays in transmission, generation or distribution substations.

Responsibilities

• Perform relay testing with assistance from Senior Relay Technicians and Engineers.
• Execute element, logic, and basic functional testing of protective relays and control systems.
• Perform and evaluate in-service readings to verify system performance and identify abnormalities.
• Conduct end-to-end testing and validate protection system operation.
• Perform communication installations and testing including SCADA, GOOSE, Modbus, fiber optics, and related protocols.
• Read and interpret one-line/three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics and complex protection logic.
• Develop testing and isolation plans to ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
• Create detailed reports, including test results and calibration documentation.
• Demonstrate clear communication with clients, engineers and project stakeholders.
