Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a Relay Technician II to perform testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection and control systems in our safety-focused environment. The role requires working with relay systems, documenting results, and supporting project execution with technicians and engineers.

The candidate will advance expertise in relay protection schemes and testing practices while ensuring safety and quality in customer sites across North America.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical/electronic technology or related field preferred.
• NETA II certification preferred.
• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing and repairing protective relays.
• Ability to travel out of town for periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform relay testing with guidance from Senior Relay Technicians and Engineers.
• Execute element, logic, and basic functional testing of protective relays and control systems.
• Read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics and complex protection logic.
• Create detailed reports, commissioning records, and calibration documentation.
• Coordinate work activities with engineers, project teams, and other technicians to ensure project alignment and efficiency.
• Adhere to safety policies and participate in job briefings and hazard mitigation efforts.
• Develop testing plans and isolation plans to ensure safe and efficient execution.
