Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking an entry-level Relay Technician I to assist in installation, testing, and maintenance of protective relay and control systems in substations and C&I environments across North America.

The role focuses on building foundational knowledge of relay protection theory and practical testing under supervision, with exposure to test plans and system verification activities. EPS offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Background check clearance required.
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Implement safety policies and follow PPE requirements in energized environments.
  • Participate in safety meetings, briefings, and hazard identification activities.
  • Assist with installation, wiring, and commissioning of protection and control systems on relay panels, transformers, and circuit breakers.
  • Perform entry-level testing under supervision from Senior Relay Technicians and Engineers.
  • Assist in building and executing basic relay test plans based on engineering guidance.
  • Document testing activities and maintain detailed reports of work performed.
  • Collaborate with Relay Technicians II/III and engineers to develop skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and work areas in a safe, organized condition.
