Job Description

With the expansion of the skilled nursing unit and the existing number of individuals served requiring wheelchair maintenance, repair, and orthotic and physical therapy tech experience, it is imperative to incorporate a full-time rehab tech position. This role is critical to meeting the complex daily needs of individuals requiring durable medical equipment and physical therapy support.

Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards

• Follow and instruct patients in exercise programs created by PT/OT.
• Recognize when adjustments are needed for restorative and exercise programs and notify PT/OT.
• Perform safe transfers in/out of bed and chairs to prepare patients for treatment.
• Manage simple repairs on wheelchairs.
• Assist with fabrication or modification of adaptive equipment under PT/OT direction.
• Document exercises and therapeutic activities.
• Organize and maintain rehab equipment and sanitize areas after use.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and provide patient reports if needed.
• Attend rehab meetings.
• Don and doff braces, splints, and other orthotic devices; maintain splinting schedule set by PT/OT.
• Assist with in-services if needed.

State law requires a national and state background check for employment.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma/GED and one year of experience providing social or direct care services to individuals with special needs, or equivalent experience at a lower-level Client Support Worker position.
