Job summary

Northern Light Mercy Hospital in Portland, ME is seeking a Patient Service Representative for the Physical Rehab Admin department. The role involves frontline patient interaction, appointment coordination, and insurance verification in a busy outpatient practice.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, excellent customer service, and a commitment to HIPAA and patient confidentiality. This is a full-time, on-site position with a flexible schedule and potential sign-on bonus

Qualifications

Greet and assist patients and visitors with courtesy and professionalism.
Protect patient information and ensure HIPAA compliance in daily tasks.
Demonstrate empathy and uphold organizational values in all interactions.
Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of patient data.

Responsibilities

Register patient demographic and insurance information accurately at check-in/appointment time.
Screen calls, document messages, and route to appropriate staff promptly.
Schedule, reschedule, confirm, and cancel appointments including surgical/ancillary services.
Verify insurance eligibility and assist with insurance-related questions and forms.
Assist with end-of-day reconciliation of payments and appointments.
