Job summary

Northern Light Mercy Hospital in South Portland is seeking a Patient Service Representative to support a multi-physician outpatient practice. You will act as the liaison between the practice, patients, visitors and guests, delivering courteous, accurate service while handling confidential information in line with HIPAA and hospital policy.

The role operates 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, full-time, with a salary range of $20.06–$25.85 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• HIPAA compliance and patient privacy emphasized.
• Excellent customer service required.

Responsibilities

• Treats all patients and customers in polite, prompt and helpful manner in keeping with Organization Values and Standards.
• Active participant in regular huddles and team meetings to improve workflows and patient outcomes.
• Maintain productivity and efficiency to accommodate volume and acuity of the practice.
• Handle difficult conversations with patients and internal customers.
• Register patient demographic and insurance information accurately at appointment time.
• Provide excellent customer service for incoming inquiries; screen calls and route messages.
• Schedule, reschedule, confirm, acknowledge, and cancel patient appointments.
• Monitor daily schedules and notify management of issues or opportunities.
