Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center in Dallas County seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide comprehensive respiratory care for adult and neonatal patients, including ABG, PFTs and ventilator support. Responsibilities include assessment, procedures, and safety with supervision from the medical director.

The role requires licensure as a Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner, NBRC registration, and BLS/ACLS; NRP/PALS should be obtained within a year of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Texas Medical Board license as Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing.
• National Board for Respiratory Care registration.
• At least 6 months of respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Conduct cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, ECGs.
• Prepare treatment evaluations with bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and chart review.
• Apply critical thinking to appropriate clinical actions.
• Interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT data during patient review.
• Assemble, check, operate and troubleshoot cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers and gas analyzers.
• Participate in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Utilize patient scripting to improve satisfaction and engagement.
• Carry out other duties as required.
