Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide a range of respiratory care services, including ABG, PFTs and ventilator support for both adults and neonates.

The role requires DME certification, Texas licensure, NBRC registration and BLS/ACLS, with NRP and PALS to be obtained within one year of hire. Night shifts on a 12x3 schedule are offered in a rotating capacity.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support— must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapies including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, chest physiotherapy and ventilation support.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures such as ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, PFTs and ECGs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside assessment, patient interview and chart review.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment (ventilators, oxygen equipment, gas analyzers).
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Utilizes appropriate scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
• Performs any other duties as required.
