Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center invites a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our respiratory care team. The role covers therapeutic and diagnostic procedures for adults and neonates, including ventilator support and oxygen therapy, under indirect supervision of the medical director.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, active TX license, NBRC registration, and BLS/ACLS with NRP to be obtained within one year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support— must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including ABG, pulse oximetry, PFTs, and ECGs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment and patient interview.
• Interpretation of CXR, ABG, and PFT data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots CP equipment such as ventilators and gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
