Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to perform a broad range of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures including ABG, PFTs, and various ventilator supports for adults and neonates.

The role requires an accredited Respiratory Care Program graduate, Texas licensure, NBRC registration, and BLS/ACLS with NRP/PALS within 1 year. The center emphasizes safety, quality, and compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support— must obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs respiratory therapeutics: oxygen delivery/weaning, aerosol therapy, humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function tests, EKGs.
  • Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview, and medical record review.
  • Apply critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
  • Interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
  • Assembles, checks, operates, and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment: ventilators, oxygen analyzers, delivery devices, gas analyzers.
  • Participates in infection control, safety, and quality assurance tasks.
  • Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
  • Uses appropriate patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
  • Performs other job duties as required.
