Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide expert oxygen delivery, ventilator management, and patient care in various settings. The role requires independent operation, strong documentation, and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

The position requires NBRC-credentialed RRT, state licensure, and BLS; advanced certifications may be required depending on the facility.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
• Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy required (or equivalent experience).
• BA/BS or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in oxygen delivery modes and equipment and conducts prescribed therapeutic procedures.
• Administers therapeutic procedures and conducts diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
• Initiates and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators and understands critical care duties.
• Evaluates current therapies with proper judgment and protocols, and makes care plan recommendations.
• Documents therapy results per hospital and regulatory requirements and communicates with the healthcare team.
• Performs blood sampling analysis and interprets results for treatment decisions.
• Works independently across patient care areas and uses the EMR effectively within Respiratory Care.
• Follows safety guidelines and completes annual proficiency evaluations.
