Job summary

St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for per diem shifts. The role involves providing inhalation and oxygen therapies, conducting pulmonary function tests and ABG analysis, and setting up ventilators.

A lead RCP may be designated in absence of a supervisor. Requirements include RCP license, NBRC RRT, BLS and ACLS, PALS (within 60 days or obtained), and prefer an Associate/Bachelor degree with 2 years acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner license required.
• Current NBRC-registered RRT or within 3 months of hire.
• BLS certification required on hire and maintained.
• ACLS certification required on hire and maintained.
• PALS certification required on hire or obtained within 60 days.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program preferred.
• Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.
• Two years of acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy and aerosols.
• Conduct pulmonary function tests and ABG analysis.
• Set up and monitor ventilators and life-support equipment.
• May participate in rapid response; assist airway management and resuscitation.
• Assess respiratory status and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Ensure respiratory equipment is cleaned, sterilized, and maintained.

Hours: 6:00am - 6:30pm

Location: St. Joseph Medical Center – Kansas City, MO.

We are seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist , internally referred to as our RRT. The RRT can be referred to as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP II) but someone who carries out respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as directed by the medical and cardiopulmonary directors, based on physician orders. They focus on assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting care while considering the specific needs of patients based on age and population; in the absence of a supervisor, they may be designated as the Lead RCP, overseeing the department during their shift. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/ PRN as needed .

Responsibilities

• W ill provide treatments such as inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications to help patients breathe more easily
• C onduct tests like pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas analysis to assess lung capacity and gas exchange in patients
• S et up, monitor , and adjust ventilators and other life-supporting equipment for patients who cannot breathe independently
• M ay be part of a rapid response team in emergencies, which you will provid e airway management, perform intubations, and resuscitat e patients in critical situations
• A ssess patients' respiratory status, monitor their progress, and make adjustments to treatment plans as needed
• E nsure that all respiratory equipment is properly cleaned , sterilized, and maintained to prevent infections and ensure patient safety

Qualifications

• Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current.
• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the AHA or ARC certification upon hire and maintain current.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the AHA certification upon hire and maintain current or obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate is preferred.
• Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
• Two (2) years of acute care experience is preferred.
