Job summary

Prime Healthcare’s St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for per diem days. The RRT provides inhalation and oxygen therapies, conducts pulmonary tests, and manages ventilators per physician orders under cardiopulmonary directors.

Leads in absence of supervisor, ensuring patient safety and documentation. Required NBRC RRT or registry within 3 months, state RCP license, BLS and ACLS/PALS around hire, and prior acute care experience

Qualifications

• Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from NBRC or within 3 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire and maintain current.
• ACLS certification upon hire and maintain current.
• PALS certification upon hire and maintain current or within 60 days.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program is preferred.
• Associate or B.S. in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
• Two years of acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Will provide inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and aerosol meds.
• Conduct tests such as pulmonary function tests and ABG analysis.
• Set up, monitor, and adjust ventilators and life-support equipment.
• May be part of rapid response, provide airway management and resuscitation.
• Assess respiratory status, monitor progress, adjust treatment plans.
• Ensure equipment is cleaned, sterilized, and maintained for safety.

Hours: 6:00am - 6:30pm

Location: St. Joseph Medical Center – Kansas City, MO.

We are seeking aRegisteredRespiratory Therapist,internallyreferred to as ourRRT.The RRT can be referred to as aRespiratory Care Practitioner(RCP II) but someone whocarries out respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as directed by the medical and cardiopulmonary directors, based on physician orders. They focus on assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting care while considering the specific needs of patients based on age and population; in the absence of a supervisor, they may be designated as the Lead RCP, overseeing the department during their shift.This position is on a per diem basis, meaningPD/PRNas needed.

Responsibilities

• Willprovide treatments such as inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications to help patients breathe more easily

• Conduct tests like pulmonary function testsandarterial blood gas analysis to assess lung capacity and gas exchange in patients

• Set up,monitor, and adjust ventilators and other life-supporting equipment for patients who cannot breathe independently

• May bepartofarapid response team in emergencies,which you willprovideairway management, perform intubations, and resuscitatepatients in critical situations

• Assess patients' respiratory status,monitortheir progress, andmake adjustments totreatment plans as needed

• Ensure that all respiratory equipment isproperly cleaned, sterilized, andmaintainedto prevent infections and ensure patient safety

Qualifications

• Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.

• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or obtained within three (3) months of hire.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current.

• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the AHA or ARC certification upon hire and maintain current.

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the AHA certification upon hire and maintain current or obtained within 60 days of hire.

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate is preferred.

• Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.

• Two (2) years of acute care experience is preferred.
