Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN is seeking an experienced registered nurse to support pre- and post-renal transplant patients and provide care for postoperative vascular and general surgical patients. The role includes learning and applying drip therapies and advanced wound care techniques.

The position emphasizes developing skills in drains, wound VAC, PCA pumps, and perioperative patient support within a weekend-option schedule.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• Licensed RN in TN or compact-state recognition prior to hire.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program or equivalent licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-renal transplant patient support.
• Care for post-surgical patients including carotid procedures, amputations, and general surgeries.
• Care for patients requiring vascular surgical interventions.
• Understand and monitor drips (PCA pumps, heparin, insulin).
• Develop and maintain wound care skills (Wet-to-Dry, wound VAC, drains).

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Give pre and post renal transplant patient support.

• Provide care to post surgical patients having carotid revascularization, stents, amputations, surgical monitoring and general surgeries like appendectomies, cholecystectomies, and thyroidectomies.

• Care for patients who require surgical interventions for significant peripheral vascular compromise.

• Gain knowledge and understanding of drips, including PCA pumps, heparin, and insulin.

• Develop and maintain skills with wound changes including Wet-to-Dry, wound VAC and post surgical drains.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
