Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Registered Nurse supervisor to implement, supervise and evaluate nursing care from admission to discharge, using the nursing process and hospital policies. Responsibilities include direct patient care, delegating and guiding staff, participating in quality improvement, and acting as a preceptor for new graduates.

Qualifications

• Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing.
• Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred; must have current licensure to practice as RN in RI.
• Demonstrates knowledge to provide care to patients throughout the life span with aging, development and cultural patterns.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care.
• Provides leadership by delegating, supervising and participating in safe nursing care activities.
• Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborates with healthcare team, patient, family and community services regarding discharge planning.
• Assists in teaching based on patient and family needs.
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement and research activities.
• Mentors new graduates and less experienced staff; serves as role model/preceptor for nursing staff.
