Job summary

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care.
• Provides leadership by delegating and supervising nursing activities.
• Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies improvement opportunities.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team, patient, family and community for discharge planning.
• Assesses and provides teaching based on patient and family needs.
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement and research activities.
• Utilizes resources to deliver quality, cost-effective patient care.
• Maintains clinical competencies through credentialing and mandatory education (BLS, ACLS/PALS as appropriate).
• Identifies growth needs and engages in educational opportunities and professional activities.
• Serves as a role model/preceptor to new graduates and less experienced staff.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities when delegated.
