Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Associate's Degree required
• RN license required
• BLS certification required
• De-Escalation training within 6 months of hire
• Advanced Dysrhythmia/EKG training (Med/Surg telemetry unit) required

Responsibilities

• Completes patient assessments, formulates plan of care, oversees implementation, and evaluates plan using critical thinking
• Performs nursing acts per board standards and approved practice
• Care, counsel, health teaching and Teach Back for comprehension
• Administers medications, IV therapy and treatments as prescribed by a LIP
• Supervision, delegation and follow-through to other personnel in nursing care
• Mentors and precepts students and orients new staff
• Reports up chain of command Clinical Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager/House Nurse Coordinator pertinent information
• Participates on teams, committees or performance improvement initiatives
• Ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, coworkers and self
• Participates in Discharge Planning and Transition of Care
• Serves as a patient advocate and escalates patient concerns timely
• Timely documents pertinent findings in medical record
• Assist patients in activities of daily living and function as active team member
• Assumes responsibility for personnel professional development
• Utilizes effective communication and active listening; SBAR and bedside shift reporting
• Functions as a positive influence and adheres to professional code of conduct
• Respects dignity and confidentiality of patient information

• Performs other job duties as assigned
