Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking a dedicated OR RN in Marquette, MI. This full-time role is 0.75 FTE (60 hours per pay period) with 6x10-hour shifts, rotating weekends and holidays, and a $7,500 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants.

You will provide medication administration, patient care, and education while collaborating with surgeons and care teams. Requires Michigan RN license, associate degree (bachelor's preferred) and BLS-HCP; comprehensive benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• Must have current Michigan RN license and an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor’s degree preferred).
• BLS-HCP certification is required.
• Willingness to work 6x10-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, nutrition, ambulation).
• Coordinates patient care including transfer, discharge, referral, and psychosocial support as needed.
• Evaluates patient/family education needs and provides appropriate teaching.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

More About Our Team

Our high performing Operating Room (OR) team is a collaborative, fast paced department. OR nurses work side by side with surgical teams to deliver safe, high quality care, supported by strong communication, teamwork, and a shared commitment to excellent patient outcomes.

The OR features 12 procedure rooms and offers 8, 10, and 12 hour shift options based on unit needs. Call requirements include one night per week and one weekend per month. Weekend and holiday rotations are established and mapped out annually, providing predictability and work life balance.

How You'll Contribute

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).
