Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Progressive Care Unit Float Pool to join the team. This role will be full‑time night shift: Days Varying, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments, interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
• Supports and empowers patients and families through health promotion to end‑of‑life decisions
• Advocates for patients’ rights while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues
• Anticipates ethical, spiritual and cultural needs of patients and intervenes to maximize outcomes and coordinates transition planning
• Documents all patient care activities as per documentation standards and assists healthcare team members with documentation
• Evaluates documentation outcomes and contributes to related performance improvement initiatives
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and leads other disciplines to meet desired outcomes
• Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members
• Demonstrates evidence of self‑development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintaining a continuing education record

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Education (Associate’s Degree): If RNs have an Associate’s Degree within 2 years of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following:
  • Identify which school they plan to attend
  • Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion
  • Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating required prerequisites and timeline for courses
  • Complete BSN within 5 years of start date
• Experience: 2+ years of critical care RN experience preferred
• Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible for licensure in Virginia, or an active multi‑state Registered Nurse license
• Certifications: BLS for Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association) & NIHSS
