Job summary

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, VA is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for the Progressive Care Float Pool. This full-time day-shift position operates 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM with a variety of assignments across progressive care units.

The RN will perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized plans of care, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure best outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
• 2+ years of critical care RN experience preferred.
• Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in Virginia.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification, ACLS & NIHSS required or maintained.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments and formulates plans based on findings.
• Coordinates care and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to achieve best practices.
• Supports patients and families through health promotion to end-of-life decisions.
• Advocates for patient rights and provides counseling as a resource to resolve issues.
• Documents all patient care activities and contributes to performance improvement initiatives.

Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool Job Responsibilities:

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
• Supports and empowers patient/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues
• Anticipates ethical, spiritual and cultural needs of patients and intervenes to maximize patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation
• Evaluates the outcomes of documentation and contributes to related performance improvement initiatives
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and leads other disciplines to meet desired outcomes
• Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members
• Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • If RNs have an Associate’s Degree within 2 years of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1. Identify which school they plan to attend, 2. Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion; 3. Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required prerequisites and timeline for taking the courses, and 4. Complete BSN within 5 years of start date
• Experience: Experience: 2+ years of critical care RN experience preferred
• Licensure: - Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license
• Certifications - BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association) & NIHSS
