Job summary

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool to join the team for full-time night shift, with days varying (7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.). Qualifications

• Education: Accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in Virginia.
• Experience: Minimum of two years of nursing experience.
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships.
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Supports and empowers patients and families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end-of-life decisions.
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues.
• Anticipates ethical, spiritual and cultural needs of patients and intervenes to maximize patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation.
• Evaluates the outcomes of documentation and contributes to related performance improvement initiatives.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and leads other disciplines to meet desired outcomes.
• Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members.
• Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education:Graduate of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • If RNs have an Associate’s Degree within 2 years of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1. Identify which school they plan to attend, 2. Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion; 3. Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required prerequisites and timeline for taking the courses, and4. Complete BSN within 5 years of start date
• Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license
• Experience: Minimum of two years of nursing experience
• Certification:BLS from the American Heart Association.
