Job summary

What You'll Do

• Provide comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of maternal and newborn conditions.
• Assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management tools.
• Educate patients and families regarding pain management.
• Develop and revise individualized plans of care based on assessments.
• Evaluate overall care plans daily for effectiveness.
• Follow the five medication rights to reduce potential medication errors.
• Perform all aspects of patient care including Postpartum, Well Newborn, Scrub, and Level II Newborn.
• Document nursing processes and responses to care in a timely manner.
• Formulate and implement teaching plans for patients and families.
• Provide accurate reports of patient conditions for safe transfer of care.

Requirements

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• Experience: Experience in maternal and newborn care preferred.
• Licenses & Certifications: Current RN License in Connecticut. BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required upon hire or within one year.
