Overview

LCH 8P Progressive Care Unit: The 8th floor is a step-down unit from PICU/CVICU, with 24 beds and a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 3:1. It admits cardiac, nephrology, kidney, heart, and liver transplant patients, as well as children requiring more frequent monitoring or increased nursing care.

Candidates must have at least 6 months of RN experience; this position is not suitable for new graduates.

Job Summary

The RN provides professional nursing care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with policies and protocols under supervision. Maintains a safe work environment and clinical competency.

Essential Functions:

• Data collection and analysis for diagnosis and care planning.
• Developing and implementing care plans to achieve outcomes.
• Coordinating care and promoting health and safety.
• Delegating care appropriately and evaluating progress.
• Practicing with cultural competence, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and ethical standards.

Physical Requirements: Walking, standing, sitting, lifting up to 35 pounds, speaking English clearly, good sight, hearing, touch, dexterity, critical thinking, quick response. Physical Abilities Testing required.

Education, Experience, Certifications: Graduate of an accredited Nursing School; BSN preferred. Current BLS, RN license, or temporary RN license in the state of practice. For NLC states, meet licensure requirements in your home state.
