Reports to: Department Director

FLSA: Non-exempt

Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred

License: Current state RN license or multistate compact license; degree from an accredited nursing school

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire

Essential Functions:

• Assess patient’s condition and nursing care needs
• Set goals and prescribe appropriate nursing interventions
• Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans
• Collaborate with physicians and hospital staff
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies
• Communicate with patients and oversee care provision
• Provide education and instruction to patients and families
• Document nursing observations and care accurately

Nonessential Functions:

• Maintain facility equipment and supplies
• Assist in orientation of new employees
• Coordinate and supervise staff activities
• Participate in quality improvement activities
