Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Nursery unit on a PRN basis. Join an 18-bed Women's Services Unit featuring a Level 2B nursery, Mother Baby Unit and Labor & Delivery, with about 50 deliveries per month.

Qualifications

• Active NC RN license or compact license.
• Associate's degree in nursing required; BSN preferred.
• AHA BLS certification within 30 days; ACLS and PALS within six months.
• One year of RN experience preferred.
• Ability to think critically and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

Job Type: PRN | VariableSchedule: 12-hour shifts, PRN - as needed. Shifts may include night shift (7p-7a), day shift (7a-7p), holidays and weekends.

With an average of 50 deliveries per month and a below-average C-section rate, our unit provides comprehensive care for expectant mothers and newborns. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment dedicated to promoting a positive birthing experience and ensuring the health and well-being of mothers and infants alike. You will also have the opportunity to cross-train in different areas of this department to gain experience. This department utilizes a self-scheduling application.

What we're looking for

• Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.li>
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
