Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Labor & Delivery team on a PRN basis with 12-hour shifts. The unit features a Level 2B nursery and a dedicated Mother Baby/ Labor and Delivery area with opportunities to cross-train.

You will assess patients, implement care plans, document care, and participate in interdisciplinary rounds to support a positive birthing experience.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina or compact RN license required.
• Associate's degree required; BSN preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire; ACLS/PALS within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

Job Type: PRN | Variable

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, PRN - as needed. Shifts may include nights (7p-7a), days (7a-7p), weekends and holidays.

More About Our Team Join our team in a 18-bed Women's Services Unit featuring a Level 2B nursery with 6 beds, 8 bed Mother Baby Unit and 5 bed Labor and delivery unit.. With an average of 50 deliveries per month and a below-average C-section rate, our unit provides comprehensive care for expectant mothers and newborns. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment dedicated to promoting a positive birthing experience and ensuring the health and well-being of mothers and infants alike. You will also have the opportunity to cross-train in different areas of this department to gain experience. This department utilizes a self-scheduling application.

What we’re looking for

• Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
