Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Nursery in a Level 2B unit. The 18-bed Women’s Services area includes a 6-bed nursery, an 8-bed Mother Baby Unit and a 5-bed Labor and Delivery unit, with about 50 deliveries monthly and a low C-section rate.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license or compact state license.
• Associate's degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and works well with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments and identify needs.
• Initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provide age- and condition-appropriate care.
• Document medical necessity accurately in the medical record.
• Develop and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Perform timely and accurate quality improvement assessments.

Job Type: PRN | Variable

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, PRN - as needed. Shifts may include night shift (7p-7a), day shift (7a-7p), holidays and weekends.

Join our team in a 18-bed Women's Services Unit featuring a Level 2B nursery with 6 beds, 8 bed Mother Baby Unit and 5 bed Labor and delivery unit.. With an average of 50 deliveries per month and a below-average C-section rate, our unit provides comprehensive care for expectant mothers and newborns. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment dedicated to promoting a positive birthing experience and ensuring the health and well-being of mothers and infants alike. You will also have the opportunity to cross-train in different areas of this department to gain experience. This department utilizes a self-scheduling application.

How you'll contribute

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for

• Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
