Job summary

Backus Hospital in Connecticut seeks a NICU RN to provide expert nursing care for critically ill newborns and premature infants. You will apply the nursing process, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and ensure family-centered care in a high-acuity setting. The ideal candidate has a nursing degree (BSN/MSN preferred), a CT RN license, and BLS.

NRP within 60 days, RNC certification preferred. Requires 1 year RN experience; 2+ years in NICU preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program; BSN/MSN preferred.
• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse license in CT.
• BLS certification required on hire.
• NRP certification within 60 days of hire.
• RNC certification preferred for NICU.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates clinical competence through nursing process and nurse-patient relationship.
• Assesses and identifies patient needs, plans, implements, and evaluates care.
• Provides newborn and NICU care in a high-acuity setting.

JOB SUMMARY - NICU

Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of a school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred.

Experience:

• One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
• Two (2) or more years experience in this specific clinical area preferred.

License and Certification

• Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
• Registered Nurse Core Certification (RNC - NIC or CCRN) preferred.
