Job summary

Backus Hospital is seeking a skilled NICU RN to deliver patient-centered care in a high-acuity environment. You will apply the nursing process to continuously assess needs and adjust care plans, while fostering a strong nurse-patient relationship in a busy neonatal unit.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred.
• One year RN experience and/or completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
• Two or more years experience in NICU or this clinical area preferred.
• Current unrestricted CT RN license; BLS required; NRP within 60 days; department certifications encouraged; RNC preferred.

JOB SUMMARY - NICU

Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of a school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred.

Experience:

• One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
• Two (2) or more years experience in this specific clinical area preferred.

License and Certification

• Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
• Registered Nurse Core Certification (RNC - NIC or CCRN) preferred.
