Job summary

Backus Hospital, part of Hartford HealthCare, seeks a NICU RN to deliver patient-centered neonatal care in a dedicated unit. The role emphasizes nursing process, collaborative care planning, and strong family-centered support to fragile neonates.

Qualified candidates are CT-licensed registered nurses with BSN preferred and BLS; NRP certification obtainable within 60 days. Shift: 7:00pm-7:30am with rotating weekends/holidays, located in Connecticut's Eastern region.

Qualifications

• RN license in CT in good standing
• BSN or MSN preferred for NICU
• 1+ year RN experience in NICU or residency program
• 2+ years in this clinical area preferred
• NRP/BLS required or obtainable within 60 days

Responsibilities

• Provide care using nursing process in NICU
• Assess patient problems and plan, implement and evaluate care

JOB SUMMARY - NICU

Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of a school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred.

Experience:

• One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
• Two (2) or more years experience in this specific clinical area preferred.

License and Certification

• Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
• Registered Nurse Core Certification (RNC - NIC or CCRN) preferred.
