Job summary

Backus Hospital in Connecticut seeks a compassionate NICU Registered Nurse to join our neonatal care team. You will apply the nursing process to assess needs, plan and deliver high-quality care for vulnerable newborns, collaborating with families and a multidisciplinary staff.

Candidates should be a graduate of a school of nursing (BSN/MSN preferred), hold a CT RN license in good standing, BLS at hire, and be able to obtain NRP within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN or MSN preferred.
• One (1) year RN experience; NICU residency program preferred.
• Current CT RN license in good standing; BLS required.
• Ability to obtain NRP certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess and identify patient needs, develops and implements plans of care using the nursing process.
• Provide skilled NICU care, monitor vitals, therapies, and interventions for neonates.
• Collaborate with family, physicians, and interdisciplinary team to ensure quality outcomes.

JOB SUMMARY - NICU

Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of a school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred.

Experience:

• One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
• Two (2) or more years experience in this specific clinical area preferred.

License and Certification

• Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
• Registered Nurse Core Certification (RNC - NIC or CCRN) preferred.
