Job summary

Backus Hospital in Connecticut is seeking a NICU Registered Nurse to deliver patient-centered care using the nursing process and a strong nurse-patient relationship. The role focuses on assessing patient needs, planning and implementing care, and evaluating outcomes in a high-acuity environment.

The position requires BSN or MSN preferred, current CT RN license, BLS at hire, and NRP certification within 60 days. Experience: 1 year RN and/or residency; 2+ years in NICU preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN or MSN preferred.
• One year RN experience and/or completion of Nurse Residency Program.
• Two or more years experience in NICU preferred.
• Current unrestricted RN license in CT.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
• Ability to obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 60 days of hire.
• Department certifications preferred.

Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of a school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred.

Experience:

• One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
• Two (2) or more years experience in this specific clinical area preferred.

License and Certification

• Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
• Registered Nurse Core Certification (RNC - NIC or CCRN) preferred.
