Job summary

Backus Hospital is seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse to provide expert neonatal care within our dedicated unit. The role requires nursing process proficiency, a strong nurse-patient relationship, and collaboration with the NICU team in a high-acuity setting.

Candidates should have a CT RN license, BLS, and be able to obtain NRP within 60 days; BSN/MSN preferred and RNC-NIC/CCRN preferred. Rotating shifts include evenings and weekends as described in the posting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN or MSN preferred.
• One year RN experience and/or Nurse Residency; 2+ years in NICU preferred.
• Current unrestricted CT RN license; BLS required; ability to obtain NRP within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates clinical competence through nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship.
• Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.
• Collaborates with NICU team to ensure high-quality neonatal care.

JOB SUMMARY - NICU

Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a school of nursing. BSN or MSN preferred.

Experience: One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.Two (2) or more years experience in this specific clinical area preferred.

License and Certification

• Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
• Registered Nurse Core Certification (RNC - NIC or CCRN) preferred.
