Job summary

UP Health System – Marquette is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Neuro/Ortho/Peds unit in Marquette, MI. The full-time role features a 0.9 FTE schedule with 6x12-hour day shifts and rotating weekends/holidays. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available for qualified applicants.

Applicants must hold an active Michigan RN license and an ADN; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Certifications include BLS-HCP; PALS and ENPC within 1 year.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate's degree from an accredited nursing program.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• BLS-HCP certification.
• PALS within 1 year.
• ENPC within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team, physicians, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Coordinates patient care across disciplines including transfers and discharges.
• Evaluates and provides patient/family education appropriate to age and condition.
• Acts as advocate for patient’s physical and emotional well-being.

Registered Nurse for our 24-bed ortho/neuro/pediatric medical and surgical unit in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Patient and team-focused employees that collaborate well and treat others professionally. RNs become PALS and ENPC certified to care for our pediatric patients as well as charge nurse, preceptor, and Nurse Fellow program opportunities.

How You'll Contribute

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional Requirements Include

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 1 year)
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) (within 1 year)
