Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking a Med Surg RN for a 54-bed acute unit, working 6 x 12-hour night shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available for qualified applicants, with strong emphasis on compassionate patient care and team collaboration.

The role includes medication administration, documentation, patient education, and coordination with the care team to support safe transfers and family communication.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate degree in nursing required; bachelor’s preferred.
• BLS-HCP certification; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care including med admin, specimen collection, clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care, transfer, discharge, and referrals.
• Assesses learning needs of patient/family and provides education.
• Advocates for patient well-being.

54 bed acute Medical and Surgical unit (3 wings with 18 beds each).We have good support from care aides to assist in patient care.Wide variety of patient conditions and interventions to hone skills and grow professionally. It's a fast-paced unit with admissions and discharges always happening throughout the shift.

How you'll contribute

A Med Surg RNwho excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional requirements include

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (preferred)
