Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Neuro/Ortho/Peds unit. Join a 24-bed medical-surgical team in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan, providing specialized care across neurology, orthopedics, and pediatrics.

This full-time role (0.9 FTE, 72 hours per pay period) features day shifts 7a-7p, rotating weekends and holidays, and a $7,500 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants. Expect collaborative teamwork and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate's degree in nursing (Bachelor's preferred).
• BLS-HCP required; PALS within 1 year; ENPC within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs care plans, including meds, specimens, and treatments.
• Documents patient care provided, vital observations.
• Monitors patient condition and communicates with care team.
• Assists with activities of daily living and nutrition.
• Coordinates transfer, discharge, and referrals when needed.
• Provides education to patients and families as appropriate.

Registered Nurse for our 24-bed ortho/neuro/pediatric medical and surgical unit in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Patient and team-focused employees that collaborate well and treat others professionally. RNs become PALS and ENPC certified to care for our pediatric patients as well as charge nurse, preceptor, and Nurse Fellow program opportunities.

How you'll contribute

A Neuro/Ortho/Peds RN who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

• Documents patient care given.

• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional requirements include

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 1 year)

• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) (within 1 year)
