Job summary

UP Health System – Bell is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical/Surgical Unit on a PRN basis with a 0.001 FTE commitment. Night shifts are 12 hours (6:45p – 7:15a) with as-needed scheduling to support patient care in a Critical Access Hospital setting.

You will work in a close-knit Med/Surg team with a broad scope of practice, focusing on meaningful patient relationships and collaboration with providers and colleagues to balance career and personal life.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• ACLS within 1 year.
• PALS within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration and clinical treatments.
• Document patient care provided.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate care, transfers, discharges, and referrals.
• Educate patients and families about conditions and self-care needs.
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Document patient care provided.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluate learning needs of patients and/or family and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year.
