Job summary

UP Health System - Bell, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a PRN/As Needed Medical/Surgical RN for a 12-hour shift schedule. The role involves providing comprehensive med/surg care in a critical access hospital with a strong team approach and emphasis on work-life balance.

You will perform plans of care, document care, monitor patient status, assist with ADLs, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality outcomes for diverse patients in the community.

Qualifications

• Michigan RN license is required.
• Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school required; bachelor’s preferred.
• Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and PALS within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration and specimen collection.
• Documents patient care accurately.
• Monitors and communicates patient status to care team, physicians, patient, and family.

How you'll contribute

A Med/Surg RN who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assist patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patients and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year.
• Experience: 1 year of Medical/Surgical experience preferred.
