RWJBarnabas Health in New Brunswick, NJ, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for Labor & Delivery. This night shift, 36-hour week role offers growth in a collaborative, safety‑driven environment.

Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, safe medication administration, education for patients and families, accurate EMR documentation (EPIC), and active participation in rounds and care transitions.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing with BLS.
• ACLS and NRP certifications required.
• 1 year RN experience; 3–5 years High-risk Labor & Delivery preferred.
• ADN required; BSN strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes.
• Administer medications and provide hands-on nursing care with clinical judgment.
• Collaborate with physicians and providers for timely care decisions.
• Educate patients and families to ensure understanding of care plans.
• Document accurately in EMR to promote continuity of care.
• Participate in rounds and handoffs to ensure smooth transitions.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. An Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification and NRP Certification are required. At least 1 year of RN experience is required, while 3–5 years of current High-risk Labor and Delivery RN experience is preferred. An Associate’s degree in Nursing is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position is NightShift, 36 hours per week, 7pm-7:30am.
