Job summary

Lifepoint Health's Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Float Pool to provide high‑quality care on multiple inpatient units during nights. The role features 12‑hour shifts, PRN-As Needed, night shift (7p‑7a), weekends and holidays.

As an RN, you will float flexibly to Med/Surg, ICU, PCU, ED, L&D, Mother/Baby, NICU, and more, collaborating with interprofessional teams to ensure safe, high‑quality care.

Qualifications

  • Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required.
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
  • 2-4 years critical care experience preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
  • Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
  • Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
  • Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
  • Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice across multiple inpatient units (Med/Surg, ICU, PCU, ED, L&D, Mother/Baby, NICU, Pre-Op/PACU, Post-Surgical). Demonstrates flexibility to float where needed and collaborate with interprofessional teams to support safe, high-quality care. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.

What We're Looking For
  • Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
  • 2-4 Years critical care experience preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
