Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital in North Carolina seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Emergency Department on a PRN basis. This 14-bed ED with a 5:1 patient ratio offers a fast-paced environment with 12-hour shifts.

You will perform assessments, document care, and participate in care planning. Requirements include an active NC or compact RN license, an Associate's degree (BSN preferred), BLS, ACLS and PALS within specified timelines, and about 1 year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license or compact state license required.
• Associate degree required; BSN preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
• Initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provides care appropriate to patient condition and age.
• Documents care and medical necessity in the medical record.
• Completes and revises the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

Job Type: PRN | Variable

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, PRN - as needed. Shifts may include days (7a-7p), nights (7p-7a), mids (10a-1p, 11a-11p), weekends and holidays.

Join our team in our 14-bed Emergency Department with a 5:1 ratio. Our diverse staff includes RNs, CNAs, Paramedics, Secretaries, and Providers, creating a collaborative environment to deliver exceptional care. Known for our wide variety of patient experiences, including Abdominal pain, and shortness of breath, we also take pride in our chest pain accreditation. With an average daily volume between 50-70 patients, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality emergency medical care while working alongside a dedicated team in a fast‑paced setting.

How You'll Contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for

• Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
