Provides direct day‑to‑day care of patients and families.

Practices to the fullest extent of employee licence in accordance with organisational policies. Under the direction of the Nurse Director, functions as a member of the Float Team to implement the patient’s plan of care.

Provides population specific care and meets the developmental needs of populations served.

How you will contribute

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we are looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN licence. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

Additional requirements include:

Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.

ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.

Handle with Care preferred.

One (1) to two (2) years of bedside RN experience required. Two (2) to four (4) years of critical care experience preferred.

Tier 1 float to: Nephrology/Oncology (NEON), 4N, Neuro Progressive Care Unit, Nursing Rehab, Telemetry, Progressive Stepdown Unit (IMCU), Surgical Unit. Certification requirements for Tier I: BLS required; ACLS and NIH within 3 months of hire or transfer into the position.

Tier 2: Meet all Tier 1 criteria and be competent to float to two of the specialty areas: Cardiovascular Unit (CVICU), Critical Care Unit (CCU), Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Emergency Department (ED), Labor/Delivery/Recovery (L&D). Certification requirements for Tier 2: BLS required; ACLS, NIH and Handle with Care within three months of hire or transfer into the position. At least two (2) years experience as a Registered Nurse required (unless previous LPN experience).
