Job summary

Sovah Health - Martinsville is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department mid-shift. The role runs 12-hour shifts, 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with a 36-hour weekly schedule and every-other-weekend. A $20,000 sign-on bonus is eligible, with hourly pay range listed and comprehensive benefits.

Active Virginia RN license (or compact) and Associate's degree are required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required within one year.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license.
• Associate's degree in nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• ACLS and PALS certifications required within one year of employment; BLS required.
• Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
• Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.Associate's degree in nursing required.

Additional requirements include:

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - both required within one year of employment-ACLS & PALS
• Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.
