Job summary

Sovah Health - Martinsville is seeking an Registered Nurse for our Float Pool on nights. The role covers 3x12-hour shifts from 7P to 7A, delivering comprehensive patient care across departments in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Applicants should hold a Virginia RN license (single-state or compact), an Associate degree in nursing, and BLS; ACLS/PALS/ENPC certifications are required or obtained within the first months of hire.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (single-state or compact) prior to employment.
• Associate degree in nursing required.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS or ENPC/PALS certification required or within 3–6 months of hire.
• Minimum 2 years hospital nursing experience in ICU and/or ED.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and related medical care.
• Documents care provided in a timely, accurate manner.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assists with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Displays initiative and flexibility to float throughout the building to support departments and staff.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support).

What We're Looking For

Applicants must have an active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins. Associate degree in nursing required.

• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• ACLS American Heart Association or must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association OR Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification (ENPC) Emergency Nurse Association required or within six (6) months of hire.
• Must have two (2) years hospital nursing experience in ICU and/or Emergency Department required.
