Job summary

Sovah Health - Martinsville is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Circulator/PRN Surgical Team. The role involves intraoperative and postoperative nursing care in a fast-paced 9-room suite, with emphasis on patient safety, documentation, and care coordination.

Applicants should hold a Virginia RN license (or compact), have an Associate degree in nursing, and be prepared to support patients and families before, during, and after procedures.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide intraoperative and postoperative nursing care.
• Safely use and manage equipment and supplies per patient need.
• Document care using electronic nursing records and charge methods.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and communicate changes to care team.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team for transfers, discharge, and family support.
• Assess patient and family education needs and provide culturally appropriate instruction.
• Advocate for the patient’s physical and emotional wellbeing.

Our Surgical Suite features a 9-room unit supporting a wide range of specialties performed daily, offering a dynamic and fast-paced environment for growth. With a team of experienced nurses-many with 15+ years in the unit-you'll find exceptional opportunities for training, mentorship, and professional development.

How you'll contribute

• Provides intraoperative and postoperative nursing care.
• Safely and adequately provides and utilizes equipment and supplies based on unique patient need.
• Uses electronic nursing documentation for charging patient supplies per department policy and procedure.
• Evaluates patient outcomes.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, andcircumstances.
• Assesses the physiological and psychosocial needs of the patient and works as an advocate for the physical and emotional wellbeing of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins. Associate degree in nursing required. Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.
